Family Information and FOPHS News Friday 28th November 2025
Welcome to 51视频 School's Family Liaison Blog!
28.11.25
I can hardly believe that November has passed, and we are on the countdown to Christmas. December is always a busy month both at home and in school and the events calendar certainly backs that up.
I am told a letter will go out, outlining all the events which you have asked for, and is useful. I have included all the details and dates I know of below.
Events
As December fast approaches, there are lots of activities planned.
You will note that there is a division between Lower and Upper School. The Christmas Fayre is an enterprise event so Lower School parents will not be invited. You can however, purchase raffle tickets at the event on 16th involving EYFS, ELTBA classes BE & LT/SH.
I am told a letter detailing all events will go out this week.
There are three sessions taking place, see below of a Motor Activities Training Challenge (MATP) for the LSTE classes as follows to which parents of those children are invited. They have been added to the events calendar
Monday 1 December 13-14.00. Class BE (MATP)
Wednesday 3rd December 9.30-10.30. Classes AH and HF (MATP)
Tuesday 9th December: Christmas lunch
Wednesday 10th December: MOVE-ing in a winter wonderland
Thursday 11th December: MOVE-ing in a winter wonderland
Social Coffee morning 9.30-11 & at 11:00 parents invited to view听听 MOVE-ing in a winter wonderland.

Monday 15th December: Christingle
Tuesday 16th December 13.45-15.00: ELTBA, EYFS + Classes LT/SH & BE. Christmas

Thursday 18th December 14-15.00: Upper School Christmas fayre

School closes at 15.30 on Friday 19th December for the Christmas holidays and re-opens on Tuesday 6th January.
Information
Budget & what it means for families with a disabled child.
Here is a link to an article on Contact-for families of disabled children which covers changes and impact of this week鈥檚 autumn budget on families with a disabled child.
It is fairly basic, but highlights the areas which are likely to affect you.
SEND Regional Events with the Department for Education.
The Council for Disabled Children, along with 2 experts
Dame Christine Leneghan and Tom Rees (I did a search on both, interesting reading) are hosting online events across the country. Some dates are yet to be set, but if you are interested, consider booking on. They are 2 hours long from what I can see.
I said I would include some links to charities, funding and carer tickets this week. I have made a start with the most commonly used ones and will look at carer discount tickets next week.
Activities
East End Pool: Free sessions over the Christmas holidays
Note the SEN session. You must call in to book as there is a form to complete. I have seen on a Facebook group that they don鈥檛 accept phone bookings.
听Santa鈥檚 Elf Academy: Metrocentre
听Join Santa and his friends this Christmas and learn elf skills. There are SEND sessions with a much-reduced capacity. Cost is 拢12 per child and 拢5 per adult.
North East family Fun
See link below for ideas over the Christmas period. Note that they are not SEN specific, so if interested have a look at specific websites. There are some relaxed performances advertised.

FoPHS News
Following our recent meeting we hope to meet with SLT to share ideas and work together for the benefit of students. In the meantime, we have plans leading up to Christmas where we will support the MOVE event.
FoPHS will set up a Santa鈥檚 Grotto where all students will receive a gift of a selection box or sensory alternative. They will visit during MOVE-ing in a winter wonderland.
All classes have been allocated 拢10 per student for an activity in the lead up to Christmas. This has been generously funded by the family of Cath Barnes, a former member of staff who sadly passed away recently. We are grateful to her family, all of whom work/ed for or used the services of PHF for thinking of us at such a sad time.
Volunteers. We will have a raffle at the Christmas fayre on Thursday 18th December and would appreciate donations of raffle prizes or anything we can use to make up some lovely hampers.
Volunteers needed as follows:
- Monday 8th December from 09.30 to decorate the Christmas Grotto.
- Tuesday 16th December 13.30-15.00 to help with FoPHS table at Lower School Christmas event
- Thursday 18th December 13.30-15.00 to help with the Christmas fayre
Please let me know if you can help.
100 Club.
We would love to increase the uptake of the 100 club, which currently has 24 subscribers. Forms will be available at the Christmas events. If you are interested in joining the 100 club, please let me know. I can send paper forms if required and accept payment by cash, cheque, BACS or via QR code. Details are on the link below

My thought for the week as November comes to a close:
鈥淭he month of November makes me feel that life is passing more quickly. In an effort to slow it down, I try to fill the hours more meaningfully.鈥 鈥 Henry Rollins
