Family Information and FOPHS News Friday 7th November 2025
Welcome to 51视频 School's Family Liaison Blog!
07.11.25
Welcome back: I hope that over half term you managed to access some activities with your family. I do my best to share as much as I can and always appreciate feedback and suggestions. I鈥檒l continue over the next 6 weeks to share information about activities over the Christmas period.
We are supporting the Royal British Legion as Remembrance Day approaches and have poppies and other items available for a donation from the school office.
Events
Friday 14th November: Children in Need
Wednesday 19th November 13.30-14.30 FoPHS Meeting
There have been other events added to the events calendar in the lead up to Christmas.
The links to the calendars are below.
Free School Meals
I had a few enquiries about the vouchers which are provided to low-income families from North Tyneside Council. These are covered from additional cost of living funding from central government. Different Local Authorities have their own processes and as our school is in North Tyneside they provide them.
I have circulated the letters previously but have linked them below again. Vouchers will now only be provided twice a year; at Christmas and summer holidays. I have also included a link to the Newsletter sent last month which may be of interest for activities over the Christmas holidays.
If your circumstances change and you think your child may be eligible for a free school meal, please contact me and I will support.
Information
Preparing for Adulthood (PfA)
As your child grows up transitions are inevitable. Whether that be from one class to another, key stage changes and one that has most impact turning 18! At PHS we continue to work to ensure that we share as much information as we have available with parents/carers. With stark headlines on proposed changes affecting those with special educational needs and disabilities it is crucial that you remain up to date. We have a PfA Parent Forum running and this has been very well attended. I use this blog to provide updates too.
Wills and Trusts.
I鈥檝e watched a recorded webinar this week from Contact-for families of disabled children on the above and found it very informative. The recorded version is available to watch until later this month. It鈥檚 important to state that things change and one of the points Philip made in the webinar was that changes in the imminent budget could have an impact. For those parents/carers of disabled children/young people who lack or have limited capacity this is important when thinking of prospective inheritance.
Toby Henderson Trust
The team at THHT have done a 鈥淐hristmas tips for neurodivergent families鈥 guide.
The Toby Henderson Trust also offers free webinars:
We have an ongoing programme of targeted听FREE听webinars, support groups听and fundraising events.听 听Webinar subjects covered can include Toileting, Understanding Autism and Managing Meltdowns, to name but a few.听 These are only available FREE OF CHARGE to听parents, carers and听family members who reside in the UK.听

FoPHS News
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 19th November and we would love to see more parents join us. As with many PTA鈥檚/Friends of there is a dependence on a small number of active parents, carers and staff. What would encourage you to join us? I鈥檇 love to hear from you.
IQ Christmas Cards. The Christmas card orders were sent out on the last day of term. 2 had misspelt names. These will be reprinted and sent as soon as I receive them. Thanks to all who supported, and I hope you loved them.
The committee has agreed funding at 拢10 per student for an activity in the run up to Christmas. Your continued generosity and support mean we are in a position to offer this funding and know it will make a difference.
Volunteers. In the run up to Christmas I will be asking for some parent volunteers to support FoPHS. In previous years you have helped wrap gifts, decorate a grotto and help at the Christmas Fayre. Keep an eye on this blog as details are finalised.
100 Club.
An easy way to support the FoPHS is the100 club. It is taking off slower this year, with just 24 numbers taken.听 Please consider joining and inviting your friends and family to do so too. 50% of the takings come to FoPHS and the remaining 50% is divided by 12 = a winning cash payment. 100 numbers taken = 拢600 for FoPHS and 拢50 for each of the 12 winning numbers.
You can pay by cash, BACS, cheque or QR code. If choosing QR, remember to reset the 鈥渢ip鈥 to justgiving to zero at the checkout.

My thought for the week is an excerpt from the poem 鈥淭he Fallen鈥 by Laurence Binyon.
鈥淭hey shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them鈥.
