Community engagement.

As your child gets older, community engagement will become more important. From personal experience I can鈥檛 stress enough how much of a difference this made to my son. I know that attending clubs etc can be a challenge for some, due to medical, sensory, communication difficulties, not to mention a lack of suitable ones which are accessible.

Start with your local offer.

If you want something specific, and you can鈥檛 find it, email me and I will see what information I have available. You can also keep an eye on the activity section of my blogs and the Facebook group where I share anything I feel is of interest.

Smile weekly activity sessions are back

We’re excited that our fun, engaging and friendly activity sessions for children and young people with SEND and adults with a disability start this week…

SEND children’s activity sessions (8-19 years)

Tuesdays:

Cramlington Village Community Centre – 4.45-5.45pm (16th Sept)

Nissan Sport Complex, Sunderland – 5-6pm

Tyneside Badminton Centre, Newcastle – 5-6pm

Visual impairment children’s activity session (6-19 years)

Cedars Academy School, Gateshead – 5-6pm

Toby鈥檚 Festive Family Fun – Come & join us

It will soon be 鈥渢hat time of year again鈥� and parents are telling us that their children鈥檚 Christmas social calendars are filling up fast already.听听So鈥�how about you come along and join Team Toby for some 鈥淔estive Family Fun鈥� in the lead up to the holidays at听Holiday Inn Newcastle 鈥� Gosforth Park!
Keep free Sunday 30th November at 12pm 鈥� 3.30pm!听听There will be games, fun crafts and activities, raffle and tombola and Jumpin鈥� Jay the Bubble Whisperer. All tickets are priced at 拢15 per head. Toby鈥檚 Garden still available

We are keeping Toby鈥檚 Magical Garden open for families to book and enjoy right up to the October Half Term school holidays.听听Please contact us on 0300 365 3055 or email support@ttht.co.uk to ask about availability and to make a booking.

The Toby Henderson Trust has other offers including webinars. The original base is Northumberland, covering Northumberland families. They have added a hub in South Tyneside for their families.

Alan Shearer Centre.

听I often see families looking for a place their children can run about safely. If you can get to the Alan Shearer Centre, 5 minutes by car from the A1/A69 junction this may be the place for you. I covered their offer in detail in a previous blog.

If your child enjoys Timba Time, this is on 3^rd Sunday of each month and are very popular. 听All bookings are now online.

Tim Lamb Centre:

听

The Tim Lamb Centre offers specialist activity and leisure facilities for disabled children/ young people and their families.听听Our Centre is open to families with a child/ young person at any stage of their diagnostic journey and whatever their additional needs.

Our facilities include a soft play area with adjoining cafe, a well equipped sensory room, large multi-purpose hall with indoor trampolines, a toddler playroom, teenage/ games room and a computer suite.听听We also have a large fully enclosed outdoor playground, (with high fencing) which includes a range of inclusive play and sensory equipment.

The building is fully wheelchair accessible and we have a disabled toilet that includes a full size changing bed and ceiling hoist facility

Membership is 拢20 for the year per family and there are additional charges per child when you visit.

Meeting:

Our first meeting of the year combines with a social coffee morning where you can meet the committee and find out more. I will have 100 club forms available; please consider joining if you can.

Team Robinson would like to thank our supporters for sponsorship which, to date totals 拢804, with gift aid to be added. This will support FoPHS who are an ambitious group.

100 Club.

For a few years we have been running a 100 club. This pays for our annual memberships and contributes towards what we offer. Below is the new form. For 拢12 for a year you will be entered into 12 draws to win a cash prize. If we have 100 numbers taken this would be 拢50! An easy way for busy parent/carers to support us. Share it with your family and friends too please.
