DaDLG: Durham and District Leisure Group.
You don’t need to live in Durham to benefit from this group’s activities although you do need to be a member. They do holiday trips and activities and weekly groups including Taekwondo (Ferryhill), Youth Group for age 11+, Trampolining (Durham) and Indoor Inflatable (Spennymoor). Holiday activities for half term are Funshack (Seaham), Restaurant (Durham), Ten Pin Bowling and Roller Skating (Newton Aycliffe).
For over 18’s they also have activities including Bowling (Washington), Meal out (Belmont) and Quad biking (Billingham). There are some additional charges, which look very reasonable but if any of these activities look interesting/accessible for your child/young person it may be worth checking it out.

FoPHS News:
This work to make the new pod fully usable has been agreed this week, funded by a grant of £1000 from Waitrose foundation we received some time ago, and the balance from FoPHS. It will be a wonderful all-weather option for outdoor learning.
FoPHS AGM.
This week I have sent a letter out to further advertise this important annual meeting. It will take place on Thursday 15th February from 9.30-11. I hope that you feel the work of the FoPHS supports your child/young persons school experience. We would love to have more parents, carers and family members join us.
Link to letter is here:
FoPHS 100 Club.
There is still time to join. For £12 you could win up to £50 in one of the 12 draws, the first 6 will be drawn at the AGM. Last year we almost hit the target of 100 numbers. This year we still have some way to go. With 58 numbers taken, each winner would receive £29 and the income for the FoPHS will be £348.

Having children with additional needs changes us, often for the better in my opinion. Ending with a quote which resonates with me.
“I think having a child with disabilities teaches you a level of love, patience, protection, compassion and understanding you didn’t even know existed”. ~ Unknown
