Pride Celebrations at Northern Counties

In celebration of pride month, our learners engaged in a series of wonderful events

Pride Month, celebrated each June, is a time to champion acceptance, equality, and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community.

Joy and excitement filled the air as our learners took part in wonderful activities to celebrate the important month.

We kicked off celebrations with a workshop and performance from , a Newcastle based charity developing LGBTQIA+ arts, artists and audiences across the North East.

Next, our learners took part in a creative session with , where they designed their own Pride flags. Some were mounted on sticks and flown proudly, while others were added to a vibrant banner display. An interactive reading session followed, capturing the imagination and attention of all our learners.

We were then delighted to welcome , who led a movement-based music and drama session that encouraged our learners to express themselves through rhythm and movement. One of the highlights for our learners was a lively game where they took turns choosing an action for everyone in the room to follow. These included pretending to play the drums, doing the Mexican wave, and dancing around with joy.

Then it was time for a fashion show, where learners strutted their stuff down the catwalk, and a brilliant drag performance to round off the fun-filled day.

Rounding off our activities, learners and staff completed a pride march from Northern Counties to Exhibition Park, proudly flying flags and banners.

We鈥檙e incredibly proud of our learners for their enthusiasm and active participation in supporting such a meaningful cause
